Strong Tower

So I have been trying to desipher the song Strong Tower by Newsboys for a visual essay project. I have come up with that the song means in so many terms that "god is there whenever you need him, the song talks about his attributes how he wont blow over in a strong wind, how he will lead a helping hand when times get rough. I dont know why but trees and roots popped into my mind for some strange un beknown reason while I was heading to my doctors appointment thursday afternoon. I don't know if it was just me reading into the song too much or what so since I have this visual essay thing I thought it would be approprite to have trees as my theme. But in the song the theme seem to be God himself I think.... What do you think the meaning of the song is???

strong and mighty
strong to save us
like a fortress
never failing

strong in battle
strong in kindness
when we stray, Lord
You're strong to find us

when the winds come hard against us
You are steadfast, You are true
when the ground beneath us trembles
Your foundation never moves

CHORUS
strong tower
high and glorious
strong tower
mighty in love
our refuge
our defender
strong tower
Lord above

strong to lead us
through the shadows
strong to carry
all our sorrows

when the enemy surrounds us
closing in as darkness falls
though his armies rage against us
they can never scale these walls

- CHORUS -

BRIDGE
You are my shelter, my shield
You are the home I could never deserve
here I will serve, ever under Your gaze
here I will serve, ever singing Your praise

- CHORUS (2x) -

strong tower
Lord above
strong tower
Lord above

I was thinking of some metophors for each verse but I have no clue on what to do???? I have sat with this changing my poem and changing my drawings. Whelp I am going to scoot on out of here. I had plans to stay home but then I realized I wont get my computer work done at home due to the conflict of interests. It seems like at the moment there needs to be a sign up sheet or something blocking out the time for the computer now and days.

The Newsboys have liberally borrowed from the Psalms here. Their metaphors are old chestnuts: the lord as a shield, as a fortress, as a protection against enemies -- this is all "old news" if it is "news" at all. Maybe the band should change its name to the Oldboys.

Their lyrics are unquestionably about God. Or, maybe I should say, I hope they are not about the President of the United States.

Martin Luther used the same material back in the 1500s when he wrote the famous "Feste Burg" (A Mighty Fortress is Our God").

I guess I would suggest to build a picture essay from the Psalms/Newsboys, images of towers and shields might be appropriate.

My own feeling is that God, while presumably concerned about humans, is involved with much else, and perhaps it is as valid to present God as trees and roots than as forts and shields. At least the one is living, while the other seems to be an image of warfare which some of us, at least, would be happy to abandon.
